With my time as a candidate, i have noticed that gun control is too a big debate within the political system. Gun control is the debate on whether or not civilians should own fire arms. Gun control laws are intended to control crime and reduce the harmful effects of violence. I am a strong enforcer of the 2nd amendment, The right of self defense doesn't stop at your driveway. That's why I have a concealed carry permit and why tens of millions of Americans do too. The permit should be valid in all 50 states. There are other ways to fight crime - by empowering "law-abiding gun owners to defend themselves." As I expressed to Headlines and Global news. We need to do more to protect our 2nd amendment rights.
There is talk in the media expressing that I want to focus more on mental health than gun control alone. The idea that I want to focus more on mental health than gun control is partially correct. Why let those who can't abide by the law continue to carry guns, if they only have one purpose? To kill the innocent. You're going to have problems no matter how good, no matter what kind of checks you do, you know, what kinds of laws, Now , with that, I think mental health, we have to do better. We have to do much better with mental health.
Of the 29,618,300 violent crimes committed between 2007 and 2011, 235,700 victims protected themselves with a threat of use or use of a firearm. Me being a strong supporter, can help the number of victims decrease if they can continue to protect themselves with firearms. Why must we punish and risk the safety of the ones that only use guns for self defense purposes only?
